Intake and Evalutation Center
The Ramey Estep Intake and Evaluation Center is a short-term program designed to provide a thorough and comprehensive evaluation which will result in a specialized and individualized placement and treatment plan for the youth. The average stay in the assessment center is 30 days.
Included in the assessment process are evaluations of:
Mental Status
Physical Health
Educational Needs
Mental Health Needs
Personality Integration
Delinquency
Recidivism Risk
Life Skills
Substance Use
Trauma Scales (if indicated)
The Intake and Evaluation Center program is coordinated by a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who is also a Certified Sexual Offender Treatment Specialist. We also have a licensed psychologist and a licensed child psychiatrist who administer additional assessments on site when the need is indicated. The goal is to insure that each child is placed in the type of program that will best meet their unique needs and build on their individual gifts and strengths in order to assist them in reaching their personal potential.

Residential Program
Since 1989, we have served more than 2000 young people through our residential treatment program. The average length of stay is 8 - 12 months and includes counseling, work, recreation, education, voluntary religious services and community involvement. Youth are referred to us through the Department of Community Based Services or Department of Juvenile Justice. All have been entrusted to our care by the court system, but that does not mean they've committed a crime. Behind every child who has committed an offense is usually a child with a long history of abuse and neglect. Most of them need an opportunity to break free of the their environment or the unfortunate circumstances that have forced them out of their natural homes. We also offer resources to the child's family, such as counseling and referral services to outreach programs.

Ramey-Estep has several community-based programs that serve youth in the community who need guidance and support, but not residential services. The Court Diversion and Community Services programs are offered through the Boyd and Carter County Juvenile Courts as alternatives to detention. Treatment Foster Care
Youth who are graduates of the REH residential program and must live apart from their parents, but do not require more restrictive residential treatment, may participate in this program. The Ramey-Estep Homes believe that family-based treatment foster care is an essential child welfare service for children birth - 21. We carefully recruit and select treatment foster families that are most appropriate for meeting the needs of each youth we serve. Treatment Foster Care also takes outside referrals.
