Residential Child Care Workers – Part-time and Full-time
Child Care Workers serve as a member of a multi-disciplined treatment team providing 24-hour residential care to troubled adolescents. This person provides supervision to the residents throughout the course of all daily activities and teaches competencies so that youth learn to function in a less structured environment. Successful candidates will be able to work a variety of shifts, have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 21 years of age, maintain a valid Drivers' License and vehicle insurance at all times, and have the ability to understand and relate to the needs of youth from diverse backgrounds. Experience working with emotionally disturbed children preferred. Starting pay is $8.65 per hour. REH offers a comprehensive benefits package to our

Function |

Working within a treatment milieu, the childcare worker facilitates the emotional, social, moral, and physical development of youth within his or her care. This person provides supervision to the residents throughout the course of all daily activities. This person teaches competencies so that youth learn to function in a less structured environment. |
Responsibilities |
- Provides direct care and supervision of children throughout all facets of the program.
- Engages in behavior management, by assisting in modifying behaviors that have been disruptive or inappropriate for residents, observing and responding to changes using positive reinforcement and using appropriate techniques to de-escalate negative behaviors.
- Assures that each resident is focused on treatment goals. Follows daily and weekly shift responsibilities and other daily assignments as deemed necessary in maintaining a constant therapeutic living environment.
- Communicates effectively with other treatment team staff.
- Provides a positive role model by maintaining appropriate dress, language, social skills, and hygiene.
- Enhances skills in child-care by attending trainings, meetings, conferences and in service training.
- Conducts light maintenance and some housekeeping to maintain a safe, clean, secure, and orderly living environment on the cottage.
- Keeps accurate records and writes thorough and objective reports including, but not limited to, log entries, incident reports, phone calls, visits, and progress reports.
- Provides transportation to residents to appointments as needed or assigned. Drives agency vehicle in safe and lawful manner.
- Teaches grooming, hygiene, housekeeping functions, care of property, family living skills and help the child work through emotional and behavioral problems to facilitate the child's movement to a future placement.
- Maintains familiarity with all emergency procedures relative to hazards such as: tornadoes, power outages, or snow storms.
- Complies with licensing standards, certification standards, employee handbook, client rights, and any other rules of conduct.
- Follows policies and procedures that enhance Ramey-Estep's ability to fulfill its mission to the youth served.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position Requirements |
High school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
